Lightning Backdrop
I'm a fan of concerts. I'm especially a fan of free concerts that totally rock. Like the one I went to last night. Los Lonely Boys played at a big outdoor venue in town, for free, in the rain. Actually, it didn't really rain a whole lot, which was very nice. But it did thunder and lightning the whole time, which was very cool. Talk about killer stage effects...
As far as music was concerned, they were really great: Texican blues, sort of like Stevie Ray Vaughan with a Latin twist. The guitarist isn't as good as SRV, but the rest of the band kicks butt. They even had one song where the guitarist and bassist played their instruments holding only the neck, and played by shifting their hands up and down, hammering on the whole time. That probably doesn't make sense; click here for a picture of the bass player in action. Actually, the whole thing seems like a good way to drop a heavy guitar on your foot.
Summed up, it was definitely a great show. They're on tour with Santana right now, so you probably wouldn't get to see them for free if they came to your town, but for $10 you can get their DVD at Best Buy.
